It has been quite a while since we experienced a really busy Cinq à sept, so when the team at Zibo asked us to join them for dinner and drinks on a Thursday night in Montreal, we had a feeling we were in for a wild night. We were not wrong. If you have eaten at a Zibo restaurant you understand what we mean.
The newest Zibo location recently opened in downtown Montreal at 1235 Boulevard Robert-Bourassa, and has quickly become the location to see and be seen. The location sports a large bar with ample room for dining. Wine lovers will be please to see the wide selection of bottles in the floor to ceiling wine cellar. Patrons who would like a quieter experience can opt for the upstairs dining room where you can enjoy a quiet meal for two. The vibe of the main floor of restaurant is young and fresh and we wanted to experience it all. The party experience was enhanced by the DJ keeping the mood going in the room.
We started our dining adventure with some libations, we went for the M and M, Martinis and Mojitos. The lychee martini and Zibo Mojito were the perfect start to the evening. Our hostess for our night suggested we complement our drinks with some appetizers, she recommended the beef carpaccio served with parmesan cheese and the shrimp pogos. The carpaccio was covered in greens and cheese and was more than enough for two people. The large shrimp were deep fried and served on sticks, perfect for nibbling on when having drinks.
After another round of drinks it was time to move on to the main courses. Our choices for the night were the Manhattan cut steak and the Ahi tuna. The steak was cooked to perfection and served with a healthy portion of roasted potatoes. The Ahi Tuna was lightly seared in sesame crust, and served with Asian sauce, rice and vegetables, and yes it tasted as good as it sounds.
No matter how much you eat, a meal never seems complete without that final sweet dish at the end. To end our amazing Zibo experience we were presented with a divine white and dark chocolate cheese cake. To complement our dessert we also had a delicious version of alcohol infused coffee the Zibo coffee.
The next time you are in the downtown core make sure you stop by Zibo to check out the Cinq à sept atmosphere. If you are in other parts of the city be sure to visit one of their many other locations.
